As Instagram has become the next big thing in social media networking, its not only used for personal use; Instagram can become a great tool for promoting your business, products & services. It is also an effective way to interact with your existing and potential clients more personally, reaching out to them to answer their questions and let them know more about you & your company.

1. Building an identity

First up, you will need to set up an account with Instagram. This literally takes 2 minutes, one thing to remember is to write an interesting short bio about your business that will tell people what you are and what you do. Images are a really great way to communicate with your client and visually they are far more appealing then reading paragraphs of texts and long blog posts.

2. Hashtags

Hashtags are the best way to categorize your content on Instagram and attract customers to your product or service. Instead of using a spray-and-pray strategy for your hashtag, you should define a few hashtags and stick to them. This will help your followers to identify them with your brand. Campaign specific tags are also a great way to build a brand image.

3. Keep it interesting
Show your customers what happens behind the scenes by posting candid snapshots. Post pictures snapped at company parties, dinners, product launches etc. Such behind-the-scenes glimpses help personalize your company and can create a sense of trust with your followers, making them more likely to do business with you.

4. Photo Contests

An even better way to get your customers or fans involved is to have contests. Choose a theme and have them send in their shots and post them on your social media site. Give the winner (the person with the most likes, etc.) a good reward.
Another cool contest idea is to have them name a new product. Show them what it is and they send in their ideas.

5. Map it out

With the new photo map feature you can easily check-in and attract customers nearby. With localized marketing it will be far more effective and easier to see where you have been and where your customers can find you, adding a more personal touch.
